Disgraced FBI agent Mark Kaminsky, ousted for excessive force, finds himself exiled to the sleepy sheriff's office of a small North Carolina town. Haunted by his past and yearning for redemption, he accepts a dangerous proposition from FBI Chief Harry Shannon, whose son was brutally murdered by the notorious mobster Patrovina. Shannon offers a lifeline – reinstatement within the Bureau – if Kaminsky can infiltrate Patrovina's gang and bring him down. This sets the stage for a perilous descent into the criminal underworld, forcing Kaminsky to confront the very demons that led to his downfall.
